State Online License Renewal System Launched

By

Lawmakers have put the finishing touches on PA's 2016-2017 budget that Gov. Wolf is set to sign.

The State of Pennsylvania has just launched several new online services to help corporations and professional license holders do business with the state more quickly and easily.

Carol Aichele, secretary of the Commonwealth, said incorporating businesses and those employed in 29 different professions applying for and renewing licenses will now be able to handle almost all of their transactions with the state online.

Aichele said it will make the process faster, easier, and less expensive for the 2.6 million Pennsylvania corporations and 11,000 charitable organizations who have to keep current with the Department of State.  It will also ease filings for the more than 950,000 professionals who maintain licenses with the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs.

An e-forms service launched this week and more than 200 online application forms for professional licenses will be online by December.

Aichele said Gov. Tom Corbett strongly supported passage of Act 67 in 2013, which gave the Department of State the legal go-ahead to launch the online services.  As part of this law, the Department of State in January initiated an expedited corporate filing service.

“Businesses are often involved in complicated financial and legal transactions that go down to the wire,” said Aichele. “This service allows documents to be processed in as little as one hour.”
