The quick adoption of smart phone payment technologies has been an unexpected boon for USA Technologies.

USA Technologies of Malvern said revenue for its fiscal year that ended June 30, 2014, was $42.3 million – up from $35.9 million in fiscal 2013.

The company, a global leader in wireless, cashless payment and telemetry solutions for self-serve retail industries, is projecting total revenue in the range of $51 to $53 million for 2015 and a growth rate of 20 to 26 percent.

“Revenue growth for fiscal 2014, however, came in slightly below our guidance range of 20 to 23 percent in large part due to a delay in integration work related to our recent taxi partnerships,” said Stephen Herbert, chairman and CEO. “We are working diligently with our partners to wrap up this work and expect to complete the integration in the second quarter.”

Herbert said the firm is conducting aggressive marketing campaigns to continue to secure a foothold in small to medium vending, laundry, kiosk and taxi businesses. USAT crossed the 250,000-connection mark in June, which is half way to its 3-year goal of 500,000 connections.

In other news, the company just announced a mobile payments, offers and loyalty program with Softcard designed for the $8 billion dollar commercial laundry market.

Under the program, consumers using Setomatic Systems‘ new SpyderWash® Elite laundry machines enabled with NFC and SmartTap® mobile commerce technology will receive a 25 percent discount on purchases made with the Softcard app.

“We are looking forward to rolling out yet another ‘industry first’ in the area of NFC, mobile-based cashless payments and consumer engagement services,” said Michael Lawlor, Sr. vice president for sales and business development at USAT.

The program through Softcard will begin in October and last through calendar 2015.
