Chester County Chamber To Host Marcellus Shale Bus Tour

By

1.28.2014 Chester County ChamberOn Tuesday, September 30th, the Chester County Chamber will host a bus trip to Northeast Pennsylvania to provide attendees with a hands-on lesson in “Marcellus 101.” Trip attendees will learn how gas is discovered, how drills operate to extract the gas, and the process of moving the gas from drilling operations to end customers.

For years the local business community has discussed the importance of natural gas that exists in PA in the Marcellus Shale. The Chester County Chamber has supported policies that would encourage the growth of this industry and the increased use of the gas in our state and nation.

As this industry has now taken a foothold in PA, and is becoming a vital driver of the Commonwealth’s economy, it’s important that we—as business leaders—learn all we can about this important industry. Therefore, we can be informed advocates—or constructive critics if the need arises.

The day-long bus tour will consist of:

  • A tour of actual well-pads in NE PA;
  • A “class room” discussion and Q & A of what fracking is and what this industry means to PA; and,
  • A networking event with business leaders from NE PA; consisting of leaders directly and indirectly working with the natural gas industry

Special guests include:

  • Rob Powelson, PUC Chairman (and former CCCBI CEO)
  • Patrick Henderson, Governor’s Energy Executive & Dep. CoS

Our hosts for the day will be Cabot Oil & Gas; and our trip sponsors have been generous in ensuring that costs are held to a minimum. Thank you to our supporters and sponsors of this event: American Petroleum Institute, Bravo Group, Marcellus Shale Coalition, and Wawa

Seating is limited to one bus—to ensure that all attendees will get a good look; and, a chance to learn and ask questions.
