The Exton-based Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) is helping international cable system operators prepare for new technologies.

SCTE has formed a new group –  the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE) – to provide a single, unified source of training materials and certification resources to cable engineering and operations professionals around the world.

ISBE will be an international gateway to SCTE’s vast library of educational and certification resources.

“Cable system operators around the world face a universal challenge:  the need to make sure that their workforces are prepared for the new technologies that are on the horizon,” said Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of SCTE.  “ISBE will bridge gaps in existing training curricula, bringing state-of-the-art content that is fine-tuned to address industry needs to cable engineering and operations professionals in every market.”

SCTE also announced today Liberty Global is the first international operator to join the SCTE Corporate Alliance Program.  The program enables operators of all sizes to address industry issues, prepare for emerging technologies, and dramatically expand access to training and education.

Liberty Global will access educational material and other resources via the ISBE brand.

“Consumer demand for next-generation services is driving the need for increased training and certification for our technical workforce,” said Balan Nair, executive vice president and CTO of Liberty Global.  “The International Society of Broadband Experts’ ability to leverage SCTE resources will make available new training that is aligned with our operational needs.”

SCTE is a non-profit professional association providing technical leadership for the telecommunications industry and serving its members through professional development, standards, certification and information.
