“Supporting our neighbors in need is at the heart of our Y’s mission,” said Denise Day, Y president and CEO. “Members and staff enthusiastically support blood drives, food collections and our annual holiday gift program.”

A clean-up day at the Red Rose Inn in Jennersville, a historic landmark in disrepair, is the first TOGETHERHOOD project to be tackled by Jennersville Y volunteers. Day said four projects are being chosen and planned.  Anyone interested in signing on for the Red Rose Inn project may contact Y volunteers here: http://www.ymcabwv.org/togetherhood

In November, 2011, Anthony Campisi of Philly.com reported Penn Township in Chester County purchased the Red Rose Inn as part of a plan to preserve the structure.

The township agreed to pay $1.7 million for the inn, which was facing foreclosure. It had been vacant after a restaurant run by owner Linda Mutascio closed. Lender Penn Business Credit L.L.C. of Bala Cynwyd also signed off on the deal.

As of that date, Penn Township planned to take down part of the structure to allow for the realignment of a nearby intersection. The township planned to preserve the oldest parts of the inn for township office space and a community center. Campisi also chronicled the inn’s history in his story here.
