Genesis HealthCare of Kennett Square is getting some much deserved national recognition for improving quality care for seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Three Genesis centers received the Silver – Achievement in Quality Award presented by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The program honors facilities that have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality care for seniors and people with disabilities. Only 77 facilities nationwide received the silver level award this year.

The awards went to Cartersville Heights in Cartersville, Ga., Holly Manor Center in Mendham, N.J., and Prescott House in Andover, Mass.

”These recipients have demonstrated strong approaches that will lead them to improved performance,” said Ed McMahon, chairman of the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers.  “I congratulate all of them for being on this quality improvement path.”

The National Quality Award Program is centered on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. As a recipient of the Silver – Achievement in Quality Award, the centers and their staff demonstrated systematic advancements in quality, plans for continual improvement, and sustainable organizational goals.  Recipients of the Silver-Award may now move forward to meet the criteria for the Gold-Excellence in Quality Award, challenging them to address the Baldrige Health Care Criteria for Performance Excellence.
