Mobile financial services company Mozido unlocks financial freedom for about 2 billion people worldwide, and its international customer base is about to expand under the leadership of Robert E. Turner of Berwyn-based Turner Investments.

Mozido, based in Austin, Texas, plans to grow into India, Brazil, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. The firm has appointed Turner executive chairman.

Turner joins the Mozido team with over 30 years of expertise analyzing leading edge technology as co-founder, chairman and CIO of Turner Investments, a global investment manager of growth equities.

In his role, Turner will help guide the mobile financial services company as it expands global operations.

Mr. Turner is co-founder, chairman and CIO of Turner Investments, an employee-owned investment-management firm overseeing approximately $9 billion in equity investments for institutions and individuals. Prior to founding Turner Investments in 1990, Mr. Turner served as a senior investment manager at Meridian Investment Company, as a portfolio manager with Integon Corporation, as an analyst at McMillion/Eubanks, and as a systems consultant at Arthur Andersen.

Turner also serves as chairman of the board of trustees of Bradley University, a member of the Notre Dame School of Architecture Advisory Council, on the Leadership Council at Drexel University and a board member for Delaware Valley Friends School.

“Three years ago as a personal investor in Mozido, I fully understood the vision of Mozido founder Michael Liberty to create the leading global mobile commerce platform which improves the lives, through financial inclusion, of hundreds of millions of people throughout the world,” said Turner. “My goal as executive chairman is to see that Michael’s vision is achieved within the context of an organization that embraces the highest standards of corporate governance.”

Liberty called Turner “a person of integrity” who will effectively guide the company.

At present Mozido’s strategy is to acquire exceptional leaders and mobilize a better future by bringing the financially underserved into the economic mainstream. Mozido currently has business operations established in the U.S., Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and Africa.

Mozido’s mobile payments platform includes mobile financial services, loyalty programs, and mobile offers for business and retail. Through its white-label, cloud-based platform Mozido serves people around the world who choose to manage their money using their mobile phone rather than relying on traditional financial institutions.

Mozido’s MoTEAF platform is highly interoperable, works with virtually any wireless carrier or mobile device, and integrates easily with products from other vendors.
