Kennett Square’s Victory Brewing Brew Pub Set to Open in October
By Shannon Maria Jones
Victory Brewing Co. is set to open its third Chester County restaurant this October in Kennett Square.
Comparable in size to its Downingtown location, Victory’s 250-seat Kennett Square restaurant will occupy 8,138 square feet on the bottom floor of a luxury apartment building at Magnolia Place, and, according to the Daily Times, expects to draw approximately 1,000 customers per day.
The new facility will offer all of the beers that Downingtown is known for, as well as one special Kennett brew made on-site in a five-barrel brewhouse, for a total of 30 draughts. The new restaurant will have a chef-inspired menu made to embrace the fresh, local foods of Kennett, while also offering a few signature dishes from the Downingtown like the Hand-Tossed Pretzel and Wings of Victory.
Victory Brewing Co. is a privately held craft brewery headquartered in Downingtown.
Begun by Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet, childhood friends who met on a school bus in 1973, the brewery formally began operations in February 1996. Victory, Pennsylvania’s widely acclaimed brewery and restaurant, now serves fans of fully flavored beers in 34 states.
Above the brewpub will be 79 apartments and condos, with a starting price of $329,900, 18 of which are already under contract. The area around Magnolia place will be developed to include three-multiuse buildings with retail stores, restaurants, and office spaces.
From the development to historic downtown Kennett is only a 10-minute walk, though sidewalks are not yet in place.
Davis Myers, new president of Historic Kennett Square, called Victory Brewing Co. “a great addition to our town.”
