Exton CTO Takes On Director Role For Philly Startup Leaders

By

Philly Startup Leaders, a volunteer network of more than a thousand people who support technology-based startups in the region, have tapped Jeffrey Burk for the job of technical director.

Burk is chief technology officer at Education Management Solutions (EMS) in Exton. Burk succeeds Frank Koehl, who was volunteer technical director for two years.

“There is tremendous innovation happening in the Philly start-up scene and I am excited to be working with the largest and most active community of start-up entrepreneurs in the region,” said Burk. “Philly Startup Leaders plays a key role in supporting and connecting technology-focused local startups with the things that they need most: information, inspiration, and a community of their peers.”

Burk said Philly Startup Leaders connects entrepreneurs with the resources they need and encourages them to stay in Philadelphia rather than relocating to other cities such as Boston or New York.

Burk joined EMS in 2012. The software company is the driving force behind numerous consumer-centered innovations that move the medical simulation market forward with breakthrough technologies to train health care professionals.  A veteran of the computer software industry, Burk’s unique background has helped shape EMS’ software solutions into a more user-friendly system centered on the needs of the customer. Noting the influences of cloud, simulation data, mobile and security on people’s relationship with technology, he is focused on making these innovations simpler, more affordable and more accessible – and placing more power into the hands of users.

EMS has been a pioneer in simulation management technology since it was founded in 1994. EMS offers complete turnkey solutions that include integrated software and hardware, design and planning, engineering, configuration, installation, training, file backup and support.
