Holy Stone Polytech, established in 2010, is based in Fukushima, Japan and makes tantalum capacitors.  Dr. Gerald Paul, Vishay’s president and chief executive officer said the acquisition fits well with the company’s plans to grow with niche acquisitions.

“Our acquisition of Holy Stone Polytech fits well into our strategy by enlarging our technological capabilities in tantalum capacitors and by strengthening the company’s position for these capacitors, especially in Japan.”

Vishay is a Fortune 1000 Company and recently reported positive revenues and what the company termed a “positive start” for the first quarter of 2014.

Vishay’s discrete semiconductors (diodes, MOSFETs, and infrared optoelectronics) and passive electronic components such as resistors, inductors and capacitors, are used all types of electronic devices.  They supply the industrial, computing, automotive, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, power supplies and medical markets.
