Two family-owned Downingtown companies which make high-quality decorative metal work and lighting have merged.

Heritage Metalworks and Scofield Lighting on May 13 announced their strategic merger to expand their offerings and capabilities. For a combined 50 years, Heritage Metalworks and Scofield Lighting have been recognized for being the best in their respective classes. The collaboration marries HMW’s artistry, technical expertise and broad metalworking capabilities with Scofield’s old world craftsmanship, melding time-honored techniques and the ultimate in authentic materials.

Heritage Metalworks, founded in 2001, designs, creates and reproduces high-quality custom and elite lighting, hardware, gates and railings using old world techniques. Their clients are domestic and international architects, interior designers, builders and homeowners. Heritage Metalworks has partnered with notable establishments such as the Capitol Building, Chrysler Museum, Mallett, Inc., Winterthur and Valley Forge National Park.

Scofield Lighting designs and markets handcrafted 18th and 19th century reproduction lighting fixtures. Founded in 1976 by Richard D. Scofield, a master craftsman and historic lighting scholar, the company began in a small workshop in Chester, Conn. Scofield is known for beautiful, versatile and timeless lighting designs, premium materials, time-honored techniques, and incomparable American craftsmanship.

“Scofield Lighting is pleased to merge with HMW, a company with the same values for excellence we believe in,” said Doreen Joslow, principal at Scofield Lighting. “This new partnership supports Scofield’s increasing client demand by consolidating production, finishing and administration under one roof. Our new forge and foundry capabilities give our national clients a truly blank canvas on which to project their lighting and metalwork vision.”

“HMW is very proud to be stewards of such a respected brand as Scofield Lighting,” said Jon White, chief operating officer of Heritage Metalworks. “Hopefully, founder Richard D. Scofield would be proud that his vision of top-quality lighting, hand-made by American craftsmen, continues to withstand the test of time.”

Heritage Metalworks and Scofield Lighting plan to optimize operations and synergy between their organizations to provide greater value for clients.
