11 Things to Do After You Visit Longwood Gardens

A cozy stroll:

01

Historic Kennett Square

Local shops, accommodations, restaurants and farmers markets. Need we say more? Pro Tip: Visit in the later hours of the day, when the restaurants set up their tables out on the street and the lights start to go on. You won’t regret it!

For cultural pleasures:

02

Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library

If you’re like us, you love a good library. The magic flair of old books together with one of the richest collections of Americana in the United States will just sweep you off your feet. And the best part: it’s all open to the public.

An impressive estate:

03

There can NEVER be enough impressive gardens. It might sound cheesy: but don’t these massive wide gardens make you want to start skip and giggle like a little girl? No worries, we won’t judge. We feel you!

A journey through time:

04

Brandywine Battlefield Park

A piece of American history and something George Washington wouldn’t want to talk about over dinner (The Battle of Brandywine is where he suffered one of his biggest defeats during the Revolutionary War). Make sure to check park hours first.

A curious visit:

05

Brandywine River Museum of Art

There is something eerie and at the same time fascinating about walking through the home of a family long gone. The Museum is the home of American painter Andrew Wyeth and his family. Marvel at his art, but also take a stroll through the very house he once called home.

The hands-on type:

06

Delaware Art Museum

Okay, hold your horses, because this is an entire activity you’re walking into here. Yes they have a ton of art you can look at. That’s not all! Not only can you also watch art performances, you can even attend classes and improve your art yourself. INSANE!

Tipsy turvy:

07

Va La Vineyards

This is a vineyard! Need I say more? Imagine finishing your trip of Longwood Gardens with a perfect glass of wine. Just…imagine it.  Enough said.

Culinary bliss:

08

Think about this:  You finish your glass of wine with a tipsy tour through a chips factory!! I mean yes, I am sure it’s incredibly interesting how chips are made, but we’ve had enough culture for one day. Enjoy your free snacks.

The simple pleasures:

09

With 450 (mostly) upscale stores like Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's, the King of Prussia Mall is Pennsylvania’s largest shopping mall. So you can either shop until you drop or you go on another culinary journey. By that I mean soft pretzels, Cheesecake Factory, Cinnabon and more.

Historic wounds:

10

If you have some history itch left to scratch, we really recommend Valley Forge Park. Because there is nothing better than digging up more of George Washington’s worst moments. The Continental Army headed here to recover from a round of British shellacking. Good times!

Valley Forge National Historical Park

Oh to be wild and free:

11

We’ve decided to end this list with a walk on the wild side. You’ve seen so many plants and greenery, you’re probably all flowered-out. That’s why we thought you might like some wildlife interaction and fun activities. Prepare for kayaking, deer sighting and free fishing.

John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum

What are you waiting for? There's art to be enjoyed, wine to be served, grass to be felt between your toes and mildly dark history to be revisited (from the comforts of the onlooker)
