The Uptown Bravo Theatre, LLC (UBT) and the Uptown! Entertainment Alliance (UEA) will be receiving a Grand Jury Award from the Preservation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia for the conversion of the former National Guard Armory in West Chester into the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center.

The award recognizes the highest level of achievement in historic preservation for historic building restoration, rehabilitation, or adaptive re-use. Winners are selected by a jury of preservation professionals.

The awards ceremony will be held in Philadelphia on June 5. Also being recognized are architect Chuck Ryan of Homsey Architects and Bancroft Construction Company, which served as construction manager.

The Grand Jury Award represents the fourth award for the Armory rehabilitation project. Previously UBT/UEA was presented with a “Bricks and Mortar” historic preservation award by the West Chester Downtown Foundation (2017) and a “Public Impact” award from Preservation Pennsylvania (2018). Also, Bancroft Construction won a 2018 Excellence in Construction Award from the American Building Council of Eastern PA.
