The SCCCC annual fall luncheon was held Nov, 4.

During the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce annual fall luncheon on November 4, key speakers focused primarily on the road to economic recovery amid the continuing presence of COVID-19. They discussed how this was being achieved through partnerships and initiatives that aim to help businesses and residents heal from the pandemic-induced damage. Richard L. Gaw reported the findings for the Chester County Press.

The event — themed “Moving Forward: Recovery & Renewal” — featured Sen. Carolyn Comitta, Sen. John Kane, and State Reps. John Lawrence, Christina Sappey, and Craig Williams.

Sen. Comitta addressed the many obstacles in the county’s economic recovery that still linger, including supply-chain and worker-shortage issues.

“We’re only fully experiencing those impacts right now,” she said. “Such challenges impact the entire business community, from global brands to international corporations to independent businesses to family-owned businesses.”

She also discussed House Bill 425, aimed at helping the hospitality industry during the recovery period through additional emergency provisions. The bill, which passed both the Pa. House and Senate, contains several assistance measures, including extending emergency outdoor dining provisions for 2021 and expanding offsite catering permits.
