Liberty Property Trust Of Malvern Wins UK Real Estate Honor

By

Malvern-based Liberty Property Trust, which purchases, develops and manages high-end office and industrial properties in the U.S. and Canada, won a prestigious UK real estate award.

Liberty’s Cambridge Biomedical Campus won the Place Making Award at UK real estate publication Property Week’s 2014 Property Awards. The Cambridge Biomedical Campus combines world-class biomedical research, patient care and university teaching on a single site in Cambridge. The master planned community is being jointly developed by Liberty and Countryside Properties.

Working in partnership with the University of Cambridge, Cambridge University Hospitals, the Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK and Papworth Hospital, Liberty and Countryside are striving to create an environment that fosters and facilitates collaboration, open innovation, and open access. This approach received a ringing endorsement last year when AstraZeneca announced its intention to relocate its UK research center and global headquarters to the campus.

“We were up against some stiff competition for the award – including the iconic Shard in London – and are delighted to have won,” said Andrew Blevins, Liberty Property Trust UK’s managing director. “Placemaking is about creating new communities that people can be proud of and enjoy spending time in. Although this award was for our Cambridge development, it is a fantastic endorsement of all our projects and is testament to our core credentials – quality, attention to detail, and a long-term approach to development.”

This is Liberty’s second endorsement for placemaking in the UK – the company’s mixed-use development Kings Hill in Kent County was named the UK’s most successful new village by an independent survey by international property consultants, CBRE, which praised the way it master planned the development to create a clear sense of community.

Liberty’s 100 million square foot portfolio includes 746 properties which provide office, distribution and light manufacturing facilities to 1,800 tenants.
