McMahon Associates in Exton is hoping to get input from both the public and the township’s Planning Commission on plans for a new train station in East Whiteland, writes Michael Rellahan for the Daily Local News.

The consulting firm was hired to study the feasibility of developing a train station in the township. Natasha Manbeck of McMahon Associates will present the work done so far at the municipal building at 209 Conestoga Road in Frazer on Wednesday at 6 PM.

McMahon Associates is heading the multi-disciplinary consultant team organized last fall by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. It is exploring options for a station between the Malvern and Exton SEPTA/Amtrak stations. The committee of stakeholders includes representatives from SEPTA, Amtrak, PennDOT, East Whiteland, DVRPC, Chester County Planning Commission, and Immaculata University.

According to advocates, the significant growth in the area proves a need for better public transportation. So far, two possible locations have emerged, one on Three Tun Road and the other adjacent to Immaculata’s campus.
