An upcoming $16 million development will reshape one of the Main Line’s most coveted corners, which means Wayne is about to get busier, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Berger Development’s Wayne Station project at 150 Lancaster Ave. is almost done, located at the corner of Lancaster and Louella Avenues. It adds 24 apartments and 10,000 square feet of commercial space to the buzzing retail strip.
The residential units are already 50 percent pre-leased before the first move-ins, which are expected within weeks. Though the “amenity is the location,” according to Matt Johnson, vice president of Berger, there will be some add-ons to look forward to.
Strong Pilates and Little Gym of Villanova will anchor the space along with an unnamed 3,000-square-foot restaurant that’s sparking curiosity. The eatery will feature a wood-fired grill, fish, steaks, and vegetables, with a design fitting the town’s upscale-but-unpretentious character.
“It’s going to be approachable fine dining, comfortable, in line with what the Main Line would expect,” said Larry Kagan, co-president of Kagan Cocozza Asset Management.
One-bedroom units start at $3,350 per month and two-bedrooms at $5,000. Some early leases have gone to empty-nesters trading in home maintenance for walkability and closeness of Wayne SEPTA station.
