West Chester’s newest pizza spot, Pizza 316, offers specialty pizza with a new twist, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.
Owned by the Moscharis family, Pizza 316 offers a new take on the traditional favorite, offering square-shaped pizza from their Gay Street location.
Basil Moscharis moved to West Chester from Greece in 1982 and has since operated Amore Pizza and Lorenzo’s Steaks and Hoagies. He opened the location with his wife Pam and son Christos in late 2024.
Moscharis shared that Pizza 316’s pies are special in several ways: the crusts are made with unbleached flour, without sugar in the sauce, and with a dough that takes over twenty-four hours to rise.
Most noticeably, pizzas come in a unique square shape. Square pizzas on the menu include the Yia Yia’s Brooklyn Style, the Pepperoni 316, and the Upside Down Pizza, a fan favorite that features whole milk mozzarella with sauce on top.
In the months since opening, the spot has already become a West Chester community favorite. Now an experienced restauranteur, owner Mosicharis shared that the key to his success is prioritizing hospitality and customer comfort.
“We want people to feel like they’re family,” he said.
