Who Knew? America’s Coolest Suburb Is in Bucks County
More of Pennsylvania’s 43 million visitors are including a small town in Bucks County as part of their itinerary, visiting America’s coolest suburb, writes Mona Bassil for The Travel.
Considered one of the best art towns in America, New Hope, established in the 18th century, is attracting people of all ages and types, drawn to the allure of natural scenery, historical buildings, galleries, museums and specialty shops.
Located on the Delaware River is a wooded, walkable town. Once the dwelling of the Lenni-Lenape people, it was first settled around 1715 and known as Wells Ferry.
It was rechristened New Hope after several mills were rebuilt following a fire in 1790.
Today, the charming borough has picturesque river dining and lodging, quirky art galleries and craft shops, restored historical buildings, quality eateries and cozy B&Bs.
The Parry Mansion, now a museum, and the Bucks County Playhouse are two of its most popular attractions.
Top dining experiences can be found at Triumph Restaurant and Brewery, The Salt House and Bowman’s Tavern.
You can also find one of Pennsylvania’s most haunted places here–the historic Logan Inn, where Revolutionary War soldiers have been spotted in the hallways.
