Technical College High School in Downingtown is creating the next generation of aspiring media professionals who are ready to make their mark on multimedia, writes Tom Kretschmer for 6ABC.

The public high school specializes in career and technical education for tenth- to twelfth-grade students.

As part of the Digital Media and Sound Communication program, students are using industry-standard cameras, mixers, and sound boards to prepare for their potential roles in a multitude of media platforms.

They are learning about all aspects of media, from animation to sound mixing to video production, among many other disciplines.

Israel Peterson is a second-year vet in the program taught by Professor Jamie Brown.

“This class has really taught me a lot,” he said. “Creating audio, mixing audio, creating avenues for a future career. As we say we’re mastering. It’s really helped me refine my skills and my craft and it shows through all aspects of my music production.”

He added that class has a very important one-on-one connection between student and teacher.

“Definitely gets personal,” said Peterson.
