West Chester WWII Veteran Celebrates His 100th Birthday
Aubrey “Brownie” Brown, a World War II veteran, recently celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends at the West Chester Rehabilitation and Health Center, writes Holly Herman for the West Chester Patch.
The Thursday party was organized by his granddaughter, Tamara. She was also responsible for an earlier parade on Strasburg Road held in honor of her grandfather, in which police and first responders participated.
“It was really special,” she said. “His physical health is really good. He had a great time.”
Brown most enjoys watching sports on television in his free time.
“He loves Penn State,” said Tamara Brown.
She added that her grandfather is very popular and has received more than 200 birthday cards. State Rep. Chris Pielli, a West Chester Democrat, was also present at the party. He presented Brown with a citation of recognition for his time spent serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
After he returned from the war, Brown married Anna Martin and they had five children. He spent 35 years working at Wyeth Laboratories in West Chester. He retired in the 1980s as a line supervisor in the narcotics production department.
