For Jayana Murray, Graduating Neumann Is 1 of Many Noble Goals
Jayana Murray is the first in her family to graduate college, but that’s only the beginning, writes Katherine Scott for 6abc.
The Neumann University graduate is also a Sixers dancer, a lacrosse star, and an Air Force reservist.
“Everything was happening at the exact same time; it was kind of crazy,” Murray said.
The 20-year-old all-conference lacrosse player from Oaklyn, New Jersey actually graduated Neumann early. She’s grateful to her parents and grandparents for their sacrifices so she could go to college..
“Walking across the stage, I was just thinking about my family and how proud they are of me. I’m one of the oldest, and I just see myself as a role model for all my younger siblings,” said Murray,
Neumann University President Dr. Chris Domes commended Murray.
“On the lacrosse field, in her studies, her commitment to the university in terms of her leadership on our campus- she made a difference, and so we are so proud of her,” concluded Domes.
Murray, who plans to eventually be a New Jersey State Trooper, joined the US Air Force Reserve last summer and now heads to Texas for basic training and tech school, then to New Mexico for training in aircraft maintenance.
