New Phoenixville housing got final unanimous approval by the city’s borough council. The Odessa housing development will include 166 stacked townhomes and a 224-unit apartment building, writes Holly Herman for the Phoenixville Patch.

The apartment building will have commercial space on the first floor and also include a 351-spot parking garage.

The housing development is set to be near the Schuylkill River Trail. The original plan included a connection to Ashburn Road, but nearby residents had some concerns. Some cited an increase in traffic as a reason to not go through with the plan.

“We do not want heavy traffic on private streets in Fillmore Village,” said Phoenixville resident Andrew Karnawski. “Let’s make it a nice spot.”

The developer, Franklin Phoenixville, LP, did not go through with the connection road, and instead decided on an emergency access road. The development calls for a total of 390 residences.
