Paoli Hospital nurses got a special visit from FOX29. It’s Nurse Appreciation Week, and to spotlight the daily sacrifices of these healthcare professionals, the news outlet joined the morning shift.

One of the nurses participated in the Nurse Inventor Program. Her innovation was a limb support device to assist with wound care.

“When I do wound care, I need a second nurse to hold that limb,” she said, while demonstrating the device on reporter Jenn Frederick.

The nurses all got free coffee and donuts for their hard work. There was also a dance party elsewhere in the hospital for nurses who wanted to let loose after a long shift.

FOX29 asked the nurses how they want to be appreciated.

“Just recognition for the hard work that we provide every day,” said one of the nurses. Another said that while free food is always nice, they always get donuts and pizza.

She suggested that visitors who want to show appreciation should bring healthier food. But there was one treat they could all agree on.

“Coffee, always coffee,” she said.
