With local weather turning more springlike, area thoughts are beginning to turn to outdoor activities like grilling, swimming, baseball, and golf.

If the thoughts of returning to the links with a bag of sticks, three other friends, and a beautifully laid out course sound appealing, consider making plans now to participate in the 2023 Annual Hankin Invitational Golf Tournament.

Proceeds benefit the HC Opportunity Center (HCOC), the Thorndale organization that provides meaningful, lucrative jobs to area residents who are differently abled.

There are numerous ways to participate in this worthwhile fundraiser:

  • Become a sponsor
  • Sign up a foursome
  • Arrive as a solo player and become part of a foursome
  • Provide a branded raffle item or something for the onsite auction

The 2023 edition of the Hankin Invitational Golf Tournament is Oct. 2 at the Whitford Country Club, 600 Whitford Hills Road, Exton.

It’s scramble-style play — all four golfers tee off, and the best lie becomes the ball of play. But start times are determined by date of registration, so teams wanting to hit the course at the prime part of the day are well-advised to sign up as soon as the onsite form goes live (July 1).

HCOC leaders would love to beat last year’s raised sum, which was more than $300,000.

The traditional array of prizes, including a yet-to-be-revealed giveaway to a hole-in-one player, will return as an additional enticement to players.

Questions on this highly popular golf event can be directed by email to April Ennis-Pierson, Executive Director, HCOC.
