West Chester’s 410 S. High Street has gone through many iterations. Originally High Street Elementary School, the property was razed to construct a Burger King, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.

Now, the property is going through another makeover. Equity owner High Street 410 plans to construct 125 market rate apartments.

The property will also include 9,200 square feet of retail space and will include an underground parking garage that can hold over 150 vehicles. So far, the developers do not have renderings of the future apartments.

“We always consider doing our best to assure that what is being built fits into the borough’s look,” planner Diane LeBold said.

The West Chester planning commission will decide whether or not to recommend the approval. It needs to be recommended in time for council members to vote for or against the approval it in June. If that moves forward, a vote on the final approval will be held in September.

On March 28, the planning commission will be hosting several experts to provide more details to the public about the project, as well as answer any questions.

If approved, construction of the apartments is set to begin in the summer of 2024.
