Downingtown native Brian Forgue — who graduated from Downingtown West High School, where he led the boys soccer team to league, district, and state championships in 2008 and was named Southeastern Pennsylvania Player of the Year by The Philadelphia Inquirer — is a Partner at MacElree Harvey.

At the West Chester-based law firm, Forgue works predominantly with clients on a variety of family law issues ranging anywhere from drafting premarital agreements, to litigating divorce, custody, and support matters in court.

“I enjoy appearing in court and working with real people who are dealing with real issues on a daily basis,” he said. “Doing so helps provide perspective and a strong link between my daily work and the tangible impact I can have on my clients’ lives.”

Forgue earned a bachelor’s degree in Crime, Law, and Justice from Penn State, where he was captain of the soccer team, and his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law. He credits one of his professors at the latter with having the biggest impact on his career.

“Phil Sechler helped solidify my desire for a career in the courtroom after graduation,” said Forgue. “Also, I’d be remiss if I did not credit all my colleagues at MacElree Harvey who have taken up the torch since I graduated and taught me nearly everything about the daily ins and outs of practicing law successfully — the things law school can’t teach you.”

His proudest professional achievement was finalizing an adoption for two of his friends: a married, same-sex couple in Philadelphia.

“For all the conflicts and disputes that are part-and-parcel to a career in litigation, facilitating the adoption of a child into a loving family is one of few courtroom proceedings that will bring a smile to your face and will quickly turn into a well-deserved celebration,” said Forgue.

His favorite Chester County restaurant is Split Rail Tavern in West Chester.

Forgue and the rest of the 2023 Class of VISTA Millennial Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration on Thursday, May 18 at Penn State Great Valley.
