Five local players will join Kennett Old Timers Baseball Association Hall of Fame when the official 2023 banquet takes place on Jan. 21 in the Red Clay Room of the Kennett Square Fire Company, writes Steven Hoffman for the Chester County Press

Dick Vermeil, NFL Hall of Fame coach, is the special guest of the event, while Ben Davis, a former major leaguer and Phillies TV broadcast analyst, will be the guest speaker. Charles Crosson, Jr., Doug Compher, Matt Johnson, Evan Breisblatt, and Anthony Buckwash are the new inductees.

Davis is a familiar face at Kennett Old Timers Baseball Association events. He served as the guest speaker at this banquet in 2018, where he regaled attendees with stories from his playing career. This year, fans of baseball will get to enjoy listening to Davis talk about the thrilling run Philadelphia Phillies made to the 2022 World Series.

Meanwhile, Vermeil, who was a special guest at last year’s banquet as well, is a legendary figure in Philadelphia sports. He coached the Eagles for seven seasons.
