The Philadelphia Eagles, through the Eagles Social Justice Fund, have donated $410,350 in grants to local nonprofits that are committed to helping end gun violence in the city, writes www.philadelphiaeagles.com.

Gun violence remains a major concern in Philadelphia that has disproportionately affected underserved communities of color. The city experienced 514 homicides in 2022, which is the highest number of annual homicides since at least 1960.

Poverty and unemployment are the main contributors that fuel gun violence. As part of its continuous efforts to grow its End Philly Gun Violence campaign, the Eagles have announced they are adopting a fully integrated approach to breaking the cycles of poverty and violence.

As part of this initiative, grants have been given to nine local nonprofits that offer financial education and support for violence prevention.

Out of $410,350, $300,000 will go toward violence prevention programs that provide well-paying jobs to people who have been affected by violence, while $110,350 is for programs that offer financial education to children and adults.
