Wilmington University is launching its new School of Law that will welcome its first classes in the fall of 2023. 

The Wilmington University School of Law will have an inclusive culture to make a case for a more diverse legal field and promote access to the bar. 

“The Wilmington University School of Law represents our history of providing career-oriented programs for students from diverse backgrounds and our responsiveness to the needs of the community,” said Wilmington University President Dr. LaVerne Harmon. “It will embrace a culture of inclusiveness, welcoming qualified students who reflect the communities they will serve.” 

The law school will be open to a diverse field of qualified students, including traditional- and non-traditional-age students, individuals who are making a transition from other careers, and multicultural populations. 

It will also primarily hire practicing lawyers as faculty who will bring their experiences into the classrooms. 

“Our success is determined by our students’ successes,” said Harmon. “Our law school instructors will genuinely care about their students and be committed to making a difference in their lives.” 

The school will focus on ensuring students are best prepared for passing the bar through its curriculum and testing strategies. 

It will offer tuition rates that are highly competitive, along with scholarships, tuition assistance, and comprehensive student services. The cost of $24,000 per year for full-time students and $18,000 per year for part-time students are the lowest rates among all law schools in the region. 

“Wilmington University will break the traditional law school tuition paradigm by charging reasonable tuition,” said dean Phillip J. Closius, J.D. “Full-time students will know from the start that it will cost them, at most, a total of $72,000 to earn a law degree.”
