The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) in Media has received a $12,000 grant from Project W that will provide academic scholarships to women nursing students at P.I.T. who are living in Delaware County.

Project W is “a women’s giving circle that harnesses the power of collective giving to address the needs of women in Delaware County.”

It is a community-advised fund through The Community’s Foundation.

P.I.T. is grateful for the support, announcing it has completed its first round of scholarships funded through Project W. It has awarded scholarships to five students in the Practical Nursing program.

Additional scholarships will be awarded during the first half of 2023.

Most P.I.T students are low-income and often struggle with housing, food insecurity, and childcare affordability.

They usually need more funding to finance their education, even after securing the financial aid for which they are eligible.

Through the generosity of the women giving to and supporting Project W, this grant will help some P.I.T. students complete their education.

About the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology

P.I.T. offers 12 associate degree programs and two certificate programs.

The college has been around for more than 68 years, helping transfer students earn degrees and specialized certificates.

The Middle-States-accredited college opened its first campus in 1953 in Upper Darby, then relocated in 1982 to its current 14-acre Rose Valley-Media campus.

P.I.T. received its Middle States accreditation in 1983, making it easier than ever for P.I.T. students to transfer their credits to a four-year college or university to complete a Bachelor’s degree.
