Chester County Food Bank Receives Support from Exton’s Bentley Systems for Meet the Need Challenge

Chester County Food Bank has announced a Meet the Need $200,000 Matching Gift Challenge from Bentley Systems. The Exton-based company will match dollar-for-dollar all monetary contributions donated from Oct. 24, 2022, through the end of the year, up to $200,000. The challenge is a focused call to action for local businesses, groups, and organizations to join the effort to help those in Chester County struggling with food insecurity.
“I hope the Meet the Need Challenge will inspire our local business community to join us in supporting the Chester County Food Bank,” said Dan Koval, Corporate Initiatives Manager at Bentley Systems. “The rise in food and fuel costs creates an unstable situation for too many families – more so than during the pandemic. Our neighbors — here in Chester County — should not have to make difficult choices like choosing between heat, housing, and food.”
Thousands of families, children, seniors, veterans, and individuals in Chester County are struggling to put food on the table. The funds from the Match Challenge will allow Chester County Food Bank to provide over 155,000 healthy meals to those in need. At a time when the demand has increased by more than 30 percent, food and financial donations have decreased by more than 25 percent.
“The Food Bank has spent $500,000 more on food costs in the past six months than the same time last year. The community match challenge from Bentley Systems will help to close that financial gap and work to meet the rising need in food assistance,” said Andrea Youndt, CEO of the Chester County Food Bank.
“Our impact has never been greater, and it is the direct result of the generosity of donors like Bentley Systems,” she continued. “On behalf of the Chester County Food Bank and all those we serve, thank you. We are rooted in our commitment and together we will face the challenges and rise strong.”
