Dave's Fried Chicken, a national fast-food brand, is setting its sights on the Phila. collar counties.

Hollywood-based Dave’s Hot Chicken — which quickly became popular for its Nashville-inspired chicken after it launched five years ago — is planning to nest at least eight locations in the Phila. region, including sites in Chester County and surrounding collar counties. Ryan Mulligan plucked this story for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Franchisees Jiger Patel and Pranav Desai are confident they will have leases signed for several of Dave’s Hot Chicken locations by the end of the year. In 2023, they plan two locations in both the second and third quarters and intend to hatch four more in 2024.

“We feel this kind of brand, with the expansion it needs, it should be in a larger market,” said Patel. “We’re signing an eight-unit deal to start, but a big city like Philadelphia gives us more opportunity for expansion.”

The initial carry-out sites will be the fried chicken brand’s introduction to the Delaware Valley. The company currently has more than 60 locations in North America.

“We’re really starting to make our presence known along the East Coast, and Philadelphia was a key market for us to enter to continue establishing Dave’s throughout the region,” said Shannon Swenson, Dave’s Hot Chicken’s vice president of franchise development.
