Based in Landenberg, Buona Foods is a third-generation, family-owned mushroom company that has been packing and shipping a full line of retail and foodservice mushrooms for nearly half a century, writes Keith Loria for the Produce News

The company operates three farms and a packinghouse in Kennett Square, the mushroom capital of the world, and has been recording growing success throughout the years.

“Growing a consistent high-quality mushroom is obviously at the core of a farm’s success,” said Chris Johansen, Buona Foods sales and account manager. “After that, it’s about relationships and close contact with our customers.”

The company harvests mushrooms 364 days a year. This year, it has further increased its production capabilities to pack and ship more mushrooms in the next two quarters, its busiest times of the year.
