Actor Terry Serpico, who grew up in Malvern, knew he wanted to learn more about actress Kadia Saraf from the first moment he met her on the set of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, writes Tammy La Gorce for The New York Times

But instead of approaching her directly, he passed her a note.

“I’m shy, and I really don’t have any kind of game,” said Serpico, who plays Tommy McGrath, the chief of detectives, on the popular show.

Serpico was not interested in a fling but something more serious. His previous marriage ended in divorce in 2014 and his sporadic attempts at dating since then were without success.

“Basically, I was wanting to move to a cabin in the woods with my dogs,” said Serpico. “Kadia changed all that for me.”

The pair started dating in August 2021. Things were going so well that by November, they were engaged. They tied the knot on June 8 in Beacon, N.Y., in a lovely outdoor ceremony followed by a picnic-style reception surrounded by friends and family, including their costars.
