After a months-long selection process and over 11,000 votes, Nottingham-based Herr’s has finally found the winner of its “Flavored by Philly” competition, writes Asha Prihar for Billy Penn

The company chose three finalists out of the 6,200 entries in mid-June. The best “made by the people, for the people” options, according to CEO Ed Herr, were “Wiz Wit” by Shannon A., Ryan R.’s “Long Hots and Sharp Provolone,” and “(215) Special Sauce” by Gregory D.

These three concepts were made into actual chips and sold to Philadelphians who then voted online for their favorite.

“Long Hots and Sharp Provolone” was chosen as the winner. Ryan R. received $10,000 along with a year’s supply of Herr’s products and an additional $10,000 donated to his favorite charity – Philabundance.
