The following positions are available at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology:

P.I.T. Nursing Faculty

The Practical Nursing Program is looking for an applicant full-time to provide didactic instruction in the discipline of Medical-Surgical, and Role Development nursing for the Practical Nursing Program.

The faculty member is responsible for providing subject matter expertise based on the approved syllabus. They will assess student performance and document all course-related activities.

Essential functions include:

  • Deliver class or clinical instruction utilizing course syllabi and provided materials
  • Ensure compliance with all accrediting and approving agencies
  • Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching and engaging students in the learning process
  • Assess student’s work in a timely fashion and convey feedback to students
  • Keep accurate records, submit grades and other reports on time, and administer academic and attendance policies
  • Identify students at risk of not achieving course outcomes and provide input into corrective action plans and remediation
  • Mentor students
  • Ongoing curriculum development and assessment
  • Committee member as assigned
  • Teach both remotely and in-person
  • Responsible for creating and updating course content and exams, course analysis, and familiarity with multiple modalities of teaching

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PPT and Zoom
  • Experience with a LMS such as Canvas, Moodle or Blackboard
  • Exceptional people skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Qualifications:

  • MSN from an accredited college or university required
  • Completion of at least one (1) year of experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or practical nursing, or completion of a post-baccalaureate course that includes practice in teaching registered nursing or practical nursing highly preferred
  • Also would consider a BSN willing to work towards MSN. We offer tuition reimbursement

P.I.T. Clinical Adjunct Instructors

Essential functions include:

  • Directs, guides and instructs a group of 8-10 students in a clinical setting
  • Interfaces with cooperating/clinical agency staff
  • Monitors, evaluates and documents student achievement of learning objectives and outcomes i. e. clinical laboratory performance, clinical performance, clinical attendance, and assignments
  • Implements College and nursing program policies and procedures
  • Attends and participates in Adjunct faculty meetings
  • Creates an environment that supports the College mission of student success
  • Provides students a quality education in a supportive environment that promotes personal growth and prepares them for successful careers
  • Serves as a professional role model and representative of the College and nursing program
  • Incorporates best-practice/evidence-based practice in nursing practice
  • Meets requirement of the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing for continuance of licensure: Once a year provides a record of professional activities and continuing education activities (CE credit or non-CE credit) completed that year

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an approved Nursing School
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Master of Science in Nursing preferred or Active pursuit and current enrollment in Master’s Program in Nursing relevant to area of responsibility with approved education plan for completion of Master’s in Nursing within five years or Active participation in maintaining expertise in class, laboratory and clinical areas of responsibility
  • At least two years of full-time direct patient care experience and current competence in adult health, long-term care, or medical/surgical
  • Prefer to have at least one-year clinical teaching experience preferably in a nursing program
  • Current PA licensure as Registered Professional Nurse with no restrictions
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification
  • Satisfactory criminal record check and child abuse history clearance
  • Satisfactory immunization for rubella, rubeola, varicella and mumps, Tdap, PPD, as well as seasonal flu vaccination and Covid-19 vaccination
  • Completed a series of 3 (three) Hepatitis B vaccinations or waiver signed.

DMS Faculty Instructor

Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) is hiring a full-time DMS Faculty Instructor.

Essential functions include:

Teaching

  • Teach courses and lab each term
  • Engage in tutoring.
  • Ensures that “at-risk” students are identified and counseled.
  • Participate in graduation and all assigned committee activities.
  • Post mid-term and final grades in compliance with College expectations, as outlined in the faculty handbook.
  • Recommend textbooks, web sites and other instructional material to the Program Manager or Director.
  • Update attendance on a daily basis.

Curricula Development

  • Assist in the development and implementation of new curricula.
  • Continue to research changes in one’s discipline to provide students with the most updated evidence-based information.
  • Create assignments that link course learning outcomes to validate the transfer of knowledge.
  • Design and produce hands-on activities for students that simulate real-world experience.
  • Develop course outlines, lectures, and assessments.
  • Ensure that the program of study has the essential instructional equipment.
  • Review, recommend, and amend current curricula, as appropriate
  • Undertake special projects at the direction of your supervisor

Student Advisement and Mentoring

  • Advise students on class requirements and schedules.
  • Attend and participate in orientation activities.
  • Establish and maintain office hours and website hours for student advisement or consultation
  • .Participate in retention activities

Assessment of Learning Outcomes

  • Assess learning objectives of the program.
  • Accreditation and Compliance:
  • Assist and support activities that ensure compliance of regulations and mandates.
  • Comply with all policies and requirements of the College as set forth in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Ensure all safety rules are posted and followed in class/lab areas.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in an ethical and legal manner.
  • Ensure compliance with JRC Standards and Guidelines Middle States Commission on Higher Education:
  • Maintain the highest level of integrity in all academic matters.
  • Provide support on Middle States Commission on Higher Education committees.
  • Support the strategic goals of the College.
  • Marketing and Promotion of Program of Study:
  • Ensure professional behavior when representing the College in a public setting.
  • Promote program of study at College promotional activities.
  • Utilize tact, sensitivity, good judgment, diplomacy, and discretion when interacting with externaland internal stakeholders.

E-Learning:

  • Support the development and implementation of E-Learning processes and procedures.
  • Recommend E-Learning teaching techniques and the use of different or new technologies.
  • Research professional development activities related to E-Learning.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and with third parties, regardless of their level of education, sophistication, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic status.
  • Understand that effective interaction across departmental boundaries is a collaborative process.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with learning platforms, such as Canvas.
  • Enjoy a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, creative problem-solver with a high level of objectivity.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum level of education: Associate’s degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years professional experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience with Canvas preferred.
  • Current ARDMS licensure  (Mandatory! Applicants without this license will not be considered for the role)
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
