Fans of spicy food — especially chicken — have a new favorite spot in West Chester with the opening of Blazin’ J’s, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News

The 16-seat restaurant serves fresh, spicy chicken but it also has degrees of heat to cater to every preference. The most popular sandwich is the J’s Way Hot. It is a grilled brioche roll filled with chicken breast dipped in J’s hot sauce, hot mayo, and pickles.

Owner Gary Danehower also runs four other locations in Lancaster

Since the opening of the West Chester location, which has 14 employees, the biggest surprise for him was the popularity of Belgian Waffles.

“Surprisingly, waffles have become a huge hit — a real comfort food,” he said.

In addition to chicken sandwiches, the restaurant specializes in jumbo tenders, bites, salads, and seasoned fries. All items are prepared fresh each day.

While Danehower has a background in engineering, his biggest wish was to work in a commercial restaurant.

“I enjoy the pace, people, and good food,” he said.
