West Chester East High School graduate Robert Jefferson IV is an Associate Attorney at West Chester-based Gawthrop Greenwood, one of Chester County’s oldest and most prominent law firms, where he focuses his practice on municipal government law, as well as land use, land development, and zoning.

 “We provide legal counsel to cities, townships, boroughs, police departments, planning commissions, and other entities by advocating at government meetings, advising election boards, drafting policy documents, as well as litigating municipal, school, land development, and zoning matters,” Jefferson said. “My favorite part of the job is helping others achieve their dreams.”

Jefferson, who began working when he was 13 years old, bagging groceries at ShopRite, earned both a bachelor’s degree in Finance and his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

A former Assistant District Attorney who spent six years at the Chester County D.A.’s Office, Jefferson credits Thomas Hogan, Michael Noone, and Charles Gaza with having the biggest impact on his career.

“I would not be where I am today if they did not take a chance on me,” he said.

Jefferson’s proudest professional achievement is recently being appointed solicitor of the City of Coatesville.

“It is truly an honor to be supporting the legal needs of the city at a time when it is undergoing historic change that can benefit residents, business owners, and surrounding communities,” he said.

His favorite Chester County restaurant is Brick & Brew in Malvern.

Jefferson and the rest of the 2022 Class of VISTA Millennial Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration held outdoors on Tuesday, May 10 at Penn State Great Valley. The in-person event will feature food trucks, drinks, touchless registration, a VIP tent, and boundless opportunities to network. It will also be live-streamed.
