The April 24 Brandywine Backyard BBQ at New Garden Township Park will have a fleet of food trucks supplying tasty dishes.

Scouting and good eating are nearly synonymous, linked by the ageless tradition of savory meats and sticky s’mores cooked on an open fire. The Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America, brings that culinary satisfaction to the public in its April 24 family event, the Brandywine Backyard BBQ. Tickets to the event at New Garden Township Park, Landenberg, are $10 per person, $5 for children under 14.

The participating vendors will ensure a comprehensive meal that leaves no taste unsatisfied:

  • Braeloch Brewing
  • Harvest Ridge Winery
  • Uncle John’s BBQ
  • Sugar Shack (burgers, ribs)
  • 22BBQ
  • On the Roll (burgers, dogs, seafood, tacos)
  • Bucky’s BBQ
  • Gourmet Jerk Shack
  • Dia Dolce Gourmet Cupcakes
  • Rita’s Ice

Any self-respecting Scouting event must have singing.

But at this barbecue, the tunes are left to the professionals who will negate the need for an audience rendition of “Baby Shark.” Local band Late Ambitions will instead be performing live, covering rock, country, and pop songs from the 1960s to today.

The annual event raises awareness of Scouting’s positive impact on the community. It also gives individuals and organizations the opportunity to support the Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America and its programs, camps, and youth in Southern Chester County, Pa. and Cecil County, Md.
