Are you looking to make the switch from hand-packaging to automation but aren’t sure where to begin? Do you have an application that needs to be packaged but aren’t sure which machine would be the most beneficial?

Exton-based All-Fill, a nationally renowned manufacturer of packaging machinery, offers a free service that allows customers to send in samples of their products, so it can determine the best machine, model, and proper set of tooling for their specifications.

You name the product, and there’s a good chance All-Fill has filled it, or something similar. The company offers a range of packaging machines and solutions for products ranging from food to pharmaceuticals. Projects depend on a variety of factors, including product flow characteristics and density, fill sizes, container size and configuration, filling times, and accuracy.

“We provide product testing for customers to receive the most accurate information regarding their product application,” said All-Fill CEO Ryan Edginton. “By sending us samples of all of the products intended to run on one machine, as well as containers that will be used, we can provide you with information on your application such as speeds, accuracies, and a suitable machine for your production requirements.”

Sending in products to be evaluated is important since every product has its own set of characteristics. It depends on the different tooling or the type of container that needs to be filled, weighed, bagged, labeled, unscrambled, or capped.

The correct tooling is vital to running machines accurately and at the desired rates. It will change depending on the product — for example, free-flowing and non-free-flowing products require different sets of tooling. Also, depending on the automation of the machine, the opening and size of the container will be critical.

“If the users of All-Fill auger fillers took the time to understand their products and to understand all the auger tooling and auger tooling accessories, they can easily improve their packaging operation regarding filling rate, filling accuracy, as well as cleanliness and the presentation of their filled product,” said Biff Bailey, a longtime All-Fill employee who recently retired after running the test lab for 27 years.

Chris O’Keefe, who has been with All-Fill for a decade, now runs the lab after having spent a year as Bailey’s understudy.

“Do you have an application you would like to discuss or a sample you would like tested?” O’Keefe said. “The process starts with a call to All-Fill and by asking to speak with our sales team about a potential application. If it sounds viable, we will ask for samples to be sent to that salesman’s attention, and after it arrives, they will get a test request in the queue with your application specifications listed to be tested.”

O’Keefe emphasized that the service is free and conducted in-house.

“It’s all for the benefit of us being able to provide you the best solution for your application,” he said. “And for your peace of mind.”
