Top Hat Toys in the Oxford Farmers Market is planning to move from its current, 300-square-foot space into a much larger store at the start of next year. Jane Bellmyer covered the planned relocation for The Cecil (Md.) Whig.

The owner, Lisa Sisson, hoped that the move would take place before Christmas, but delays forced her to push the date into 2022.

However, Sisson has been too busy to worry too much about the delay. She runs the store, teaches, and drives the bus for a private school in Lancaster County.

“The new store will be 1200 square feet with a second floor,” she said.

The second floor will enable her to hold her storytime inside, as opposed to summer outside sessions. The new building will also make it possible for Sisson to host more events and hold them indoors.

When Top Hat Toys opened a year ago, both Sisson and her husband Michael were shocked by the reception.

“I didn’t know it was going to take off this well,” she said.

The store offers Legos, K’Nex, Paw Patrol, action figures, retro toys, games, puzzles, drones, and more.
