It’s not just the clients of MacElree Harvey who are satisfied with the full-service law firm based in West Chester.

It’s the employees, too.

MacElree Harvey, which has additional offices in Kennett Square, Centreville, Del., and Hockessin, Del., has again been named one of the 100 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania. The firm is among 47 small companies in Pennsylvania — and the only law firm to win in Chester County — to earn this designation for 2021.

Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania is a survey competition managed by Best Companies Group, and the 100 winners are recognized in the Central Penn Business Journal.

MacElree Harvey’s core values of respect for the individual, the community, and the law are clearly demonstrated in its ability to recruit and develop a diverse group of exceptionally talented attorneys and staff who enable the firm to best serve its clients and communities.

“A firm is only as good as its employees, and the hardest part is building a team that embodies the firm’s culture,” said MacElree Harvey CEO Michelle Foster. “We believe that great people equals great results. This is not just something that applies to how we do business, but it is the foundation in which we operate and it is what leads to our success.”

Just to be considered for designation as a Best Place to Work in Pennsylvania, employers are required to complete an in-depth questionnaire and employees must offer their honest feedback by taking part in a three-part, company-wide survey.

The results are analyzed according to eight core areas:

  • Leadership and Planning
  • Corporate Culture and Communications
  • Role Satisfaction
  • Work Environment
  • Relationship with Supervisor
  • Training, Development and Resources
  • Pay and Benefits
  • Overall Engagement

MacElree Harvey regularly recognizes employees who have gone “above and beyond” through company-wide announcements and prizes. Throughout the year, the firm promotes a variety of events and activities for employees, including cornhole tournaments, community fundraisers, wellness activities, picnics, and potlucks where employees are encouraged to showcase their culinary skills.

In addition to its broad-based litigation practices, MacElree Harvey represents clients in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, labor and employment, real estate, banking and finance, bankruptcy, family law, estate planning, tax law, personal injury, and criminal defense.
