Cup of Dreams Coffee and Tea in Paoli is a locally owned and operated alternative to the local Starbucks, writes Caroline O’Halloran for SAVVY Main Line.

The bistro, located in Paoli Village Shoppes, is run by mom and former software engineer Jian Zhou, who emigrated from Shanghai 25 years ago.

“Cup of Dreams has been my dream for a long time,” said Zhou. “If my American dream can come true, everyone’s dream can come true.”

Zhou designed the space to be welcoming to customers and encourage them to linger. This is especially evident by the corner nook with its cushy couch, ideal for spending a leisurely afternoon catching up with a friend.

The tables in the main room are widely spaced and also have USB and electrical outlets.

The menu includes the usual suspects: espressos, lattes, cold brews, and micro-brewed teas, along with a Paoli first — a full line of sweet bubble teas.

Yogurt drinks are also available, and LeBus pastries are delivered daily.

The shop uses organic, fair trade, and single-origin beans from Audubon micro-roaster Valerio Coffee.
