According to the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, 54 local businesses have committed to sponsoring five weekends of holiday lights, decorations, and festivities during the first-ever Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester.

“This is an unprecedented outpouring of support that ensures we can plan for thousands of twinkling lights and holiday festivities as visitors from across the region enjoy our one-of-a-kind shops, restaurants, and other small businesses just when they need it most,” said Katie Walker, GWCC President.

“We pride ourselves on creating a supportive business environment here in West Chester, but this really is an extraordinary show of unity in extraordinary times,” said West Chester Mayor Jordan Norley. “It just shows that when we all work together, we are all uplifted.”

The streets of historic West Chester will be bathed in the glow of thousands of holiday lights every evening from Nov. 26 to Jan. 1. Each weekend will feature a new set of holiday festivities, including First Responders and Health Care Heroes Weekend sponsored by Krapf Transportation, with 100 percent of QR code donations going to local fire departments, police departments, EMS, and health care workers.

Additional weekends are still available for sponsorship, including:

  • Shop Small Business Weekend
  • Old-Fashioned Holiday Weekend
  • ’Twas the Weekend Before Christmas
  • Happy New Year Weekend

Entire blocks of the borough will be illuminated thanks to Benchmark Federal Credit Union, First Bank of New Jersey, West Chester University, West Chester Business Improvement District, and West Pharmaceutical Services. Half-block sponsors include A.J. Blosenski, Inc., CTDI, Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, Media One Products, Penn Oaks Golf Club, Rothman Orthopaedics, Rudloff Custom Builders, and West Chester Dental Arts.

Sponsored by Lamb McErlane, the borough’s beloved tree lighting ceremony at the Historic Courthouse on Dec. 3 will feature surprise guests and entertainment, including the WCU Gospel Choir, Marching Band, and a cappella group Under A Rest and the West Chester Area School District Elementary Honors Chorus.

Every Saturday from 2-3 PM at the Historic Courthouse until Dec. 18, the “Making Spirits Bright Holiday Music Series” is made possible by First Bank of New Jersey, with Taylors Music providing musical equipment.

Children can wave to Santa as he tours the borough on a fire truck every Saturday at 3 PM, sponsored by Tolsdorf Oil Lube Express. Also, a professional Gingerbread House Competition is made possible at select locations by Delphi Wealth Management. On New Year’s Weekend, it’s your last chance to take a glowing stroll through the borough and enjoy signature drinks and appetizers from your favorite West Chester restaurants.

“We are proud to take the lead in sponsorship and invite other Chester County businesses to help make this year a holiday to remember in downtown West Chester,” said Chester County Hospital CEO Michael J. Duncan.

Holiday lights quarter-block sponsors include Buckley Brion Mcguire Morris & Sommer, Dave’s Automotive Repair Enterprises, First Resource Bank, Fred Beans Ford of West Chester, Infiniti of West Chester, La Difference Salon & Day Spa, MacElree Harvey, My Benefit Advisor, Northwestern Mutual, PECO, Rothwell Document Solutions, S&T Bank, and WSFS Bank.
