Chester County is home to one of the Top 11 Family-Friendly Suburbs in the U.S., according to a new list from Realtor.com.

To evaluate parent preferences for residences, Realtor.com looked at the surrounding suburbs of the nation’s 11 largest cities (populations of 10,000+ people). Its analysts then compared relevant metrics such as school rankings, family-friendly businesses, and things to do.

Exton, a census-designated place with approximately 5,622 residents in West Whiteland Township, made the best-of list, ranking sixth.

Exton is a large commercial center with plenty of reliable fast-casual restaurants and big-box stores.

At the same, it offers plenty of greenery for nature lovers. Exton Park, for example, is filled with hiking trails and playing fields. Boot Road Park offers large and small playground equipment, softball and baseball fields, a butterfly garden, and bird nesting boxes.

The area is home to a large mix of single-family homes, condos, and townhomes. The median home price in July was $578,550, but there are more affordable options as well. These include various townhouse developments that offer additional amenities like pools, tennis courts, and walking trails that are especially stroller friendly.

The Chester County Library & District Center in Exton offers full-scale, kid-friendly reading encouragement, covering budding bookworms from preschool to fifth grade.
