Immaculata University senior Regina Carey, of Carney’s Point, N.J., has been named the Delaware Valley Human Resources Person of the Year. The honor is accompanied by a $1,000 scholarship and recognizes an undergraduate student who is committed to pursuing a career in human resources and has shown strong academic ability and early engagement and accomplishments in human resources-related areas.

Carey, a human resources management and finance major, accepted her award at a ceremony held on Aug. 11 at Vie in Philadelphia. The Delaware Valley HR Person of the Year Award is a joint effort among the Chester County Human Resource Association, Delaware County Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Delaware SHRM, Greater Valley Forge HR Association, HR Association of Southern New Jersey, Philly SHRM, Tri-State HR Management Association chapters of SHRM.

Carey interns with the human resources department at Lincoln Investment Planning, where she assists with talent recruitment, orienting new employees, planning virtual employee engagement days, implementing a new leadership training program, and creating diversity and inclusion newsletters.

A student member of SHRM, Carey is on the dean’s list at Immaculata and serves as the executive president of the university’s business club. She facilitated a panel event for the club that provided students with interviewing insights and resume tips from HR managers in different industries. Through her degree and her internship experience, she wants to continue learning best practices in human resources to create an excellent workplace environment for her future employees, both remotely and in the office.

“This HR Person of the Year undergraduate student scholarship award is an accomplishment I owe to my professors, internship managers, as well as Immaculata University,” said Carey. “I am extremely blessed to be given not only the opportunity to contribute the scholarship to my tuition but to be able to grow my HR professional connections for my future career.”
