They Love Delco, Wawa, and ‘Mare of Easttown.’ So They Stood in Line for All Three

This time, there was more going on than free coffee.

The opening of the new Wawa in Upper Darby was akin to an Oscar moment, with hundreds lining up for the Mare of Easttown-fueled experience, writes Stephanie Farr for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Wawa, Delco, and Mare of Easttown have become intertwined since the series premiered.

That was apparent Thursday morning when Wawa declared the new store opening part of Mare of Easttown day.

Providing authenticity at the opening was Mare actress Kassie Mundhenk; Tom Ingelsby, father of show creator Brad Ingelsby; and Chester County Detective Christine Bleiler, Kate Winslet’s local contact for character advice and inspiration.

Kathleen Martin, 63, of Drexel Hill, was first in line at 5:30 AM.

“I love Mare of Easttown! I love Wawa! And I love free t-shirts!” Martin said. “Plus, I get up at 4 in the morning. What else am I gonna do?”

She also was one of the first to try Wawa’s Mare of Easttown Spicy Cheesesteak, giving it two thumbs up.
