Arc of Chester County’s 1-Mile Walk and 5k fundraiser, presented by CTDI, raised a record-breaking $120,000 for individuals they serve with disabilities, and their families.

This was the second consecutive year the walk-run event went virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There was significant support from title sponsor, Communications Test Design (CTDI) and the community-at-large.

The participants

Nearly 265 walkers and runners rallied Sunday, May 16. They set out at 9 AM from their own neighborhoods, walking and running separately, but united, for The Arc.

Participants included walkers and runners from all over Pennsylvania and the surrounding tri-state area.

In humble gratitude

“We are humbled and incredibly grateful for the overwhelming community support,” said Jeanne Meikrantz, Chief Executive Officer of The Arc of Chester County. “With the support of CTDI and the rest of the generous sponsors and loyal supporters, we can continue providing the vital and essential programs and services our families have come to rely on, especially in more challenging times.”

Many walkers and runners formed fundraising teams to raise additional dollars for The Arc.

Peer-to-peer fundraising solicited donations from family and friends and totaled over $40,000. Many sponsors were able to renew their partnership again this year, including title sponsor CTDI.

CTDI title sponsor

“We were proud to be the title sponsor of The Arc Bubble Walk and Run event again this year,” said Leo Parsons, Chief Executive Officer of CTDI. “We have a shared mission to support individuals with disabilities and were happy to partner with The Arc to extend our support.”

The combined effort of corporate sponsors, fundraising teams, individual donors, and local organizations reinforced the collective power of community.

Looking to next year

The Arc Bubble Run and Walk returns to an in-person course in 2022 at West Goshen Community Park in West Chester. There will be an option to participate virtually.

“It was inspiring to see the show of support continue to grow this year with new sponsors, teams, walkers, and runners,” added Matthew Holliday, Board President of The Arc of Chester County. “Going virtual has kept us connected to one another and the mission but walking and running in person together again will be both celebratory and cathartic.

“I have a feeling we’ll be out in droves next year with a new record to beat,” added Holliday.

The Arc provides a lifetime continuum of services in Chester County and the surrounding area, to 3,000 individuals and families a year.

Proceeds from The Arc Bubble Walk & Run event support The Arc of Chester County’s programs and services. That includes Advocacy, Children’s Early Learning, Family Support Services, and Employment.
