Chester County currently has a COVID-19 positivity rate of less than one percent, a statistic no other county in Pennsylvania can claim, writes Fran Maye for the Daily Local News.

Last week, only 37 people tested positive for the virus, compared with more than 1,000 people at the beginning of February. When measured against the status only four weeks ago, the rate is almost five times lower.

One of the main reasons for the good news is coronavirus mitigation. More than 92 percent of adults in the county are either fully or partially vaccinated for COVID-19. This finding exceeds both the national and state benchmarks set for pandemic mitigation.

Deaths caused by the coronavirus in the county have also slowed to a crawl in the past few weeks, with the recovery rate now at an astonishing 96.8 percent.

As a result, nearly everything in Chester County is currently open, and the majority of businesses have removed their mask mandates.
